Many mentors have guided me, but this is the quote I keep by my desk, written on a card and given to me by the late, sweet angel of a writer, Rick Fields:

Achieving the clarity that Orwell encourages remains a life’s work. I’ve often been inspired to continue the struggle by this, from Antonio Machado:
“Making things well is more important than making them.”
