16-year-old boy dies in Amish buggy crash in Ashtabula County



ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio — Authorities are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was killed in an Ashtabula County crash Saturday afternoon.

It occurred round 6:36 p.m. on U.S. 322 simply east of Cox Street in Windsor Township.

Norman Detweiler, a 16-year-old Middlefield boy who was using within the buggy, was pronounced lifeless on the scene.

The driving force of the Dodge, a 53-year-old man from Newbury, was taken to the hospital with accidents that don’t look like life-threatening. Authorities say he was not carrying his seat belt on the time of the crash.

“Right now it doesn’t seem that alcohol and/or medicine have been concerned,” authorities mentioned in a press launch. “This crash stays below investigation.”
