The list below contains every publisher and developer confirmed to be participating, according to the E3 website, and what they might cover during their showcases.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Nintendo
Nintendo is celebrating a number of milestones this year, including the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon series and the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. With confirmed release dates for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it’s possible the publisher will take time to focus on other highly anticipated projects. These include Breath of the Wild 2, which was announced at E3 2019, and Splatoon 3, which was announced in the latest Nintendo Direct. Fans may also be hoping for news about Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, and the long-rumored new Nintendo Switch model.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Xbox & Bethesda
This Xbox showcase could look quite different from past Microsoft E3 events, thanks to its acquisition of Bethesda in fall 2020. The showcase, set for June 13, will cover the upcoming Xbox lineup as well as projects in the works from Bethesda. Possible candidates for news include Halo Infinite, the new Fable game, Forza Motorsport 8, The Elder Scrolls 6, and Starfield. Fans may be particularly interested in Elder Scrolls 6, which has been a highly anticipated project for years, and Fable 4, which will reboot the series after an 11-year absence.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Ubisoft
Ubisoft has a number of anticipated titles that could see new gameplay during the Ubisoft Forward event on June 12. Upcoming Ubisoft games include Rainbow Six Quarantine and Roller Champions, along with Far Cry 6, set for an October 7 release date.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Square Enix
Square Enix has many big games in the works that could potentially get updates at E3 2021. Many are eager to hear news about news about FF7 Remake Part 2, as well as the FF7 mobile game spinoffs, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis and Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier. Other upcoming Square Enix games include Dragon Quest 12, Dragon Quest 10 Offline, Final Fantasy 16, Life Is Strange: True Colors (set to release September 10, 2021), and Forspoken (which has an anticipated release in 2022). On top of all that, there’s also rumor of a Square Enix Guardians of the Galaxy game.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Take-Two Interactive
Not much is currently known about what Take-Two Interactive will bring to E3, especially with popular Take-Two series like Borderlands, Red Dead Redemption, and Grand Theft Auto already host to actively updated games. Perhaps DLC for these existing games could be revealed, or even remasters of older titles. A remaster of Red Dead Redemption would likely be exciting for many, as the game originally released back in 2010. It’s also possible Grand Theft Auto 6 development updates could be announced, but it seems unlikely that game will be released anytime soon.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Verizon & Razer
Tech giants Verizon and Razer will also be participating in E3 this year. There’s been little news on what Verizon will cover during E3 2021, but Razer will have a keynote reveal on June 14 to announce upcoming technology for its gaming product lines.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Capcom
Capcom has already had a busy year, between the release of Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village. However, there are still more Capcom titles to come in 2021, including Monster Hunter Stories 2 and Resident Evil Re:Verse.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Warner Bros. Interactive
WB Games currently has several big projects underway. E3 2021 could include more information on Hogwarts Legacy, set to release in 2022, Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and Left 4 Dead-inspired shooter Back 4 Blood. Back 4 Blood is slotted for release on October 12, 2021, so there will likely be new gameplay footage of the zombie survival game.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Bandai Namco Entertainment
E3 could spotlight any number of Bandai Namco projects set to release in 2021 or coming after this year – titles like Digimon Survive, Scarlet Nexus, and Tales of Arise. However, the Bandai Namco title gamers are most hyped about is Elden Ring. The action-adventure RPG was announced at E3 2019 and is a collaborative project between Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R. R. Martin. Since its announcement, little has been revealed about Elden Ring‘s development or when it might be released.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Gearbox Software
Gearbox is known for the popular Borderlands series, as well as titles like Duke Nukem and Homeworld. Gearbox’s Tribes of Midgard is set to release sometime in 2021, and many are hoping for news on Homeworld 3.
E3 2021 Publishers & Developers – Sega
Sega’s E3 2021 will likely showcase content for its newly announced Sonic the Hedgehog titles. These include Sonic Colors: Ultimate, which is expected to release later in 2021, and a mysterious, brand-new Sonic game. Outside of these games, it’s unclear what Sega might cover during E3 this year.
