Authorities investigating after body pulled from Lake Erie

WILLOWICK, Ohio — Multiple agencies are investigating after reports of a body found in Lake Erie.

The U.S. Coast Guard confirms it got a call just after 7:30 Wednesday morning that a person on the shore spotted an unresponsive person in the waters in the lake.

U.S. Coast Guard Fairport Harbor readied their boat and launched. In the meantime, several local agencies, including Eastlake’s technical rescue unit, rushed to the scene. 3News crews spotted their unit on a residential street near the shore where the body was reportedly found.

The U.S. Coast Guard told 3News that the local crews did, in fact, recover the body. There is no word on whether the body recovered was that of a male or female. No other details were immediately available.

This is a developing story. Check back with 3News on air and online for any further updates as they become available.
