America’s “Golden Girl” Betty White is celebrating a long and bountiful life turning 98 years old today. Her secret to longevity is “her love for pets, hotdogs, and vodka” as she once joked. With more than 80 years in show business, the comedic staple made generations laugh with the Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls and Hot in Cleveland. She was born in 1922 and first worked as an assistant on a local TV station before getting in front of the camera and through her career, she has accumulated 24 Emmy nominations. She has won eight. She has been trending on Twitter, Google, and other social media. So here we are wishing a happy birthday to truly an American treasure.
But Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock wished her Betty White in their own way on her 98th birthday through a video. Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock compete for Betty White’s love on her birthday. Ryan and Sandy appeared in the sweet video on Ryan’s Instagram account in which shows pair switch off singing happy birthday to Betty for her 98th birthday. (Reminder – Betty White, Ryan and Sandy were seen together in 2009 movie – The Proposal) After a couple of lines of the tune, things get competitive.
Sandra said “Happy birthday, Betty from Sandy who loves you more than Ryan” and video cuts to Ryan who said, “happy birthday from Ryan who loves you so much more than sandy.”
“What does Sandy do for you every year?” the “Free Guy” actor says as Bullock’s singing video continues in between to interrupt him. “I mean, does she like show up and hand-deliver flowers for you wearing nothing but black socks and a dozen gold bracelets, just like you requested? Doubt it.” He ends his segment with fake crying while Bullock says “I Love you and Happy Birthday,” and the video ends with a note displaying “Happy 98th Birthday Betty!” with Betty’s Golden Girl them song’s instrumental playing in the background.
He captioned this beautiful video posted for his 34.6 million followers with “Happy 98th Birthday to the one and only Betty White! #XCVIII” Maria Carey, David Beckham, and many other celebrities commented on the video wishing Betty White a happy birthday and praising Ryan’s “hilariousness.”
It is certainly not the first time Ryan and sent birthday love for his former co-star from “The Proposal.” Last year, Ryan sent birthday wishes to his “ex-girlfriend’ Betty on Instagram alongside a photo of the pair gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes during a 2010 Tonight’s Show appearance. “I don’t usually post about ex-girlfriends,” Ryan captioned on the post, “but Betty is special. Happy birthday to the one and only Betty White.”
She is really a legend and she is regarded as a pioneer of American television. Betty is the first woman to produce a TV sitcom (Life with Elizabeth). As she turned 98 today, we are wishing you a very happy birthday, Betty White! Lots of love!
