Whereas Beyoncé can command any display screen or radio wave alone if she wished, she does depend on a number of proficient background dancers to make her imaginative and prescient come to life.
Her two longtime backup dancers and collaborators Ashley Everett and Kimmie Gee know the definition of arduous work on the subject of bringing Bey’s imaginative and prescient collectively.
“After I was 16, I moved to New York to pursue my dance profession,” Ashley informed Blavity. “I’m from a small city in northern California. I needed to go to the large metropolis to attempt to begin my profession, and that’s the place all of it occurred. After I was 17, I auditioned Beyoncé, and my complete world did a 180.”
Ashley, who can be Bey’s dance captain and appeared in her “Single Girls” music video, even acquired engaged on stage to fellow dancer Jaquel Knight in 2016.
“‘Single Girls’ is tremendous iconic,” Ashley added. “It become the ‘Thriller’ of our era. I really feel like my children, and my grandbabies and their grandbabies can have a look at that and be like, ‘Oh, that’s my household!’ It’ll be round longer than me, and that’s tremendous cool.”
