‘Bridgerton’ Shows Us That We May Have Learned a Whitewashed Version of History

The Bridgerton group used the hypothesis about Queen Charlotte’s background as a leaping off level to create the sequence the way in which they did. Showrunner Chris Van Dusen shared to ET, “Many historians consider that Queen Charlotte was England’s first queen of blended race … I began to marvel what that might have appeared like. What may this queen have finished? May she have used her energy to raise different folks of shade in society? Granted them titles? Lands? Dukedoms?”

Golda Rosheuvel, the actress who performs Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton and a self-proclaimed interval piece fan, is worked up to deliver one thing new to the style. She defined to Insider, “The likelihood for Black characters to like, to be passionate, to be seen in excessive standing … You permit all that house to occur when you’ve got any person, who was ruling the nation as an individual of shade.”

You’ll be able to watch Bridgerton on Netflix now.
