This time of the year has really become a nightmare for most of the people in the country. Last year, the phase of lockdown started in the last week of March and was extended for an uncertain time. The different phases of the lockdown were experienced throughout the country depending on the necessity and the severeness of the wave of the noble coronavirus. The same thing has started to happen again and is gaining velocity this time of the year.
The per-day cases of covid infected people have been rising slowly and steadily in the metropolitans mostly. Whenever matters of national importance and security is talked about, the national capital always holds a special and privileged position in matters of concern. Following the trend, the speed with which the cases of infected personnel have started increasing in Delhi has become a great matter of concern for both the central and Delhi’s government.
In order to curb the surge in the cases, the Chief Minister of New Delhi and the Aam Admi Party Supremo Arvind Kejriwal has declared the weekend lockdown. The Chief Minister announced that following this Friday, Delhi would be under complete lockdown on the weekends. The services of Restaurants, auditoriums and shopping malls will be closed during the weekends as well as on weekdays too.
Following the immediate guidelines of the weekend lockdown, gyms and spas will remain also be closed while the cinema halls and pvr’s would be operational with only 30 percent occupancy. The home deliveries and takeaway services will be allowed to open and operate. People who have married and other functions lined up in the coming weekends will be allowed to take place. Following the trend of last year, people and jobs which come under the hoarding of essential services would be exempted from the lockdown guidelines and they can operate freely but taking self-protection would be a must.
The critical steps of lockdown on weekends was taken on the basis of the sudden increase in the number of cases of Covid-19 affected people. The pressure which it has been making on the medical facilities and infrastructure along with the related staff is really tremendous which also needs to be kept in notice. As on record, the number stands out to be 17,526 as on 14th April 2021. The number of cases really shook the Chief Minister as well as the people concerned as it was really an unexpected thing to happen.
