In presenting their exit ballot information, CNN provided a demographic breakdown of what the voters appeared like. Within the graphic they displayed, they confirmed that 65 p.c of the voters was white, 13 p.c was Latino, 12 p.c was Black, three p.c have been Asian, and 6 p.c have been “one thing else.” Virtually instantly, customers on Twitter started to react to that categorization realizing that they probably meant Native Individuals.
Given the demographic structure that they’d already described, many customers have been in a position to deduce that the 6 p.c that was nonetheless unaccounted for needed to be from Native Individuals who had solid a poll. From there, it was simple to see how Twitter customers on the whole and Native customers, specifically, could be outraged by CNN’s choice. In spite of everything, it appears unusual to not accurately determine this bloc of voters, and doubtlessly offensive.
