Vaas Montenegro seemingly makes a return to the Far Cry series in the form of a bobblehead on a dashboard in Far Cry 6’s latest gameplay demo.
The legacy of Vaas continues to live on throughout the Far Cry series after an easter egg for the Far Cry 3 antagonist was spotted in the most recent gameplay video for the upcoming Far Cry 6. This newest series installment has been delayed multiple times but is currently set to launch on October 7 of this year.
Though he was not technically the main villain of Far Cry 3, the character of Vaas Montenegro instantly became a huge hit with not just fans of the series, but the gaming community at large. This can mainly be attributed to the terrific performance by Vaas’ voice actor Michael Mando, which includes the famous “definition of insanity” monologue. Mando’s prolific work even managed to get Vaas on the game’s cover even though he is considered a secondary antagonist and since then fans of the series have been on the lookout for any potential reference or return of the character.

While some perceived references are more speculation than anything else, Reddit user fjsocjwkxj seemed to spot one that is pretty concrete in the latest gameplay video for Far Cry 6. At the 7-minute 25-second mark of the 9-minute video GameSpot posted on YouTube showcasing what can be expected in the new installment, there appears to be a Vaas bobblehead on the dashboard of the car the player is driving. There is no indication if this is just a simple nod to the Far Cry 3 villain or if there is something more substantial in the bobblehead’s appearance.
According to the comment section on fjsocjwkxj’s post, this is not the first time Vaas has shown up outside of Far Cry 3 in bobblehead form. There was also one featuring the antagonist in Far Cry 5 and the return of a bobblehead in Far Cry 6 likely signals that this is just a running nod to the iconic character more than anything else. Still, players will not know for certain until Far Cry 6 finally launches later this year.
This shows just how much fans love the character of Vaas Montenegro when a small reference like this can spark excitement about his possible inclusion. The character has become one of the most recognizable in all of gaming so it makes sense that players would want more of him. Whether or not he ever comes back in some substantial capacity, however, it seems clear that Ubisoft will continue to reference the iconic character in Far Cry 6 and beyond for as long as the series goes.
