BEREA, Ohio — A man and two of his children have been hospitalized after being pulled from the water at Cleveland Metroparks’ Wallace Lake in Berea.
According to Cleveland Metroparks Police Chief Katherine Dolan, a man and his six children were fishing at Wallace Lake, when they attempted to swim in a non-designated swimming area.
Four of the children were able to exit the water on their own, but the adult male, a juvenile female and a juvenile male went under the water at approximately 6 p.m.
Cleveland Metroparks Police and Berea Police removed the juvenile female from the water at approximately 6:55 p.m. and the adult male and juvenile male were pulled from the water at approximately 7:20 p.m.
All three were transported to the Southwest General Hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.
“Our thoughts are with the family of this tragic incident. Cleveland Metroparks is conducting an investigation and will have more information as it becomes available,” Cleveland Metroparks spokesperson Jeffrey Tolman told 3News in an email.
