Former Columbus police officer Adam Coy has been indicted within the deadly capturing of Andre’ Hill.
Ohio Legal professional Common Dave Yost stated the Franklin County Grand Jury indicted on the costs of homicide, felonious assault and dereliction of obligation.
On Dec. 22, Coy and one other officer, Amy Detweiler, had been responding to a report of a suspicious car on Oberlin Drive.
Although neither officer turned on their body-worn cameras, a 60-second rollback with no audio was captured Coy approaching an open storage with Hill inside. Authorities later stated Hill was on the residence visiting a pal.
Hill emerged from round a car with a mobile phone in his left hand. His proper hand was not seen. Seconds later, Coy eliminated his gun and fired it at Hill.
Although the audio was not recorded, Detweiler informed investigators Coy yelled “there’s a gun in his different hand” earlier than opening hearth.
Hill was taken to an area hospital the place he later died. Police didn’t discover a weapon on the scene.
Coy was fired on Dec. 28.
Yost says Coy was arrested Wednesday night. His first courtroom look for Thursday.
