Friends Cast Reveal What They Stole From The Set Of The Show

Friends cast Thanksgiving

Ahead of HBO Max’s special, members of the Friends cast like Jennifer Aniston and Matt LeBlanc reveal what they stole from the show’s set years ago.

Ahead of their highly-anticipated reunion on HBO Max, the Friends cast reveal just what they stole from the set years ago. The beloved sitcom about a group of friends in New York City might have ended in 2004, but it still remains one of the most beloved shows of all time. To prove that point, HBO Max is staging a reunion with the entire Friends cast: Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry. Titled Friends: The Reunion, the HBO Max event will be an unscripted special filled with a boatload of guest stars like Lady Gaga and BTS.

Friends: The Reunion was supposed to debut alongside HBO Max’s launch last year. However, the coronavirus pandemic prevented it from being shot until this year. In April, the cast assembled on Friends‘ original set to film the special. Last week brought the news that Friends: The Reunion will premiere on HBO Max on May 27, while the first proper images from the special arrived online Wednesday. They were accompanied by some new stories from the Friends cast themselves, finally back together again.

The Friends cast recently sat down with People to promote the upcoming HBO Max special. In between discussing their chemistry and real life friendships, each cast member revealed what they stole from the show’s set. Aniston answered first, saying she took one of Monica’s (Cox) dresses. “I still have it and wear it to this day,” she declared, much to Cox’s surprise. LeBlanc took an “I love Friends” license plate frame, which he put on Schwimmer’s car without him noticing. Kudrow initially said she took nothing, but after prodding from Aniston and Cox, admitted she took Phoebe’s rings.

Perry revealed he stole the “cookie jar that has the clock on it,” which he then gave to Kudrow because she once believed it was an actual clock. Cox took nothing from the Friends set because she doesn’t like to collect things, and Schwimmer has a placard that says “Professor Geller.” He also joked he stole the couch from the coffee shop. Amusingly, most of the items the cast stole (and how they used them) feel especially fitting when it comes to their characters.

Aniston picking a dress and Schwimmer going for a piece of Ross’ academic life are perhaps ways to show how the cast influenced their characters, or vice versa. Friends ran for an impressive 10 seasons, meaning the cast spent a great deal of time embodying their characters. It wouldn’t be too surprising if they took pieces of the fictional group with them into their real lives. The Friends reunion won’t see them playing those characters again, but it’ll still be wonderful to see the gang back together once more. Just hearing them talk about the show is an exciting thing, and it all goes down on HBO Max next week.
