At this stage of the pandemic, the coronavirus vaccine has become readily available. As state and health officials encourage more people to get vaccinated, providers are making changes to ensure Ohioans can get vaccinated at any time.

On Friday, Giant Eagle announced that all of its pharmacy locations providing the vaccine will no longer require an appointment to receive the coronavirus vaccine beginning Monday, May 10.

Patients, over the age of 18, looking to get vaccinated should visit their local Giant Eagle pharmacy with a valid identification car and insurance information. Specific appointment times will no longer be available to book online following the procedural change beginning on May 10.

The vaccines will be distributed during pharmacy hours which may vary by location.

Specific questions can be directed to your preferred Giant Eagle Pharmacy location. For more information on Giant Eagle and its COVID-19 operations, click here.

As of Friday, May 7, more than four million Ohioans have been vaccinated, totally nearly 35 percent of the populations.

But with demand for the vaccine stalling, DeWine said that the state is looking into providing incentives to those who receive the vaccine — beyond what already exists.

“There’s just so many reasons to get vaccinated and I think we’re going to see more and more reasons as we move forward,” DeWine said while in Hamilton County. “I know some states have come up with $100 — look, we’re looking at all kinds of things. If we could figure out what could really incentivize people and pick up a significant number, we would certainly do that. We’re still looking at that.”
