Gov. DeWine to announce law enforcement recruitment pilot program

DeWine to hold Wednesday press conference announcing pilot program to recruit Ohioans into law enforcement jobs



COLUMBUS, Ohio — Editor’s note: The video in the player above is from a story published on April 21, 2021.  

On Tuesday, officials announced that Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will hold a press conference Wednesday morning to announce a brand new pilot program to recruit Ohioans into law enforcement jobs. 

According to a release sent out from the Ohio Governor’s Office, the new program “partners law enforcement agencies with institutions of higher education to recruit highly-qualified individuals into law enforcement careers.”

Gov. DeWine will be joined during the announcement by Dr. Patrick Oliver, Ph.D., Criminal Justice Program Director at Cedarville University and Sarah Shendy M.S., Administrator with the Ohio Office of Law Enforcement Recruitment. 

The press conference with Gov. DeWine will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, and we will stream the event on our WKYC Facebook page, Youtube account, as well as in the player at the top of this story.
