Iran struck at the United States early today firing a series of surface-to-surface missiles at two Iraqui bases housing US troops and warning the United States and its allies in the region not to retaliate. Iran attacked with dozens of ballistic missiles to the US troop as retaliation for the U.S. drone strike in Baghdad that killed Iran’s top general Qasem Soleimani.

Iranian state TV said the attack was in revenge for the killing of Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force’s head, Qasem Soleimani on January 3, 2019. Iran attacked a few hours after the funeral of Soleimani.
U.S President Donald Trump said in a tweet that an assessment of casualties and damage from the strikes was underway and that he would make a statement on Wednesday morning. Trump who visited the Assad Air Base in December 2018 said “all is well” in a Twitter post.

One source said early indications were of no US casualties. Other US officials declined to comment. While Iranian state TV said in a report that around 80 “US terrorists” were killed in the attacks and several military equipments and helicopters were damaged.

Another report came a few hours ago that a Ukrainian plane crashed in Tehran, Iran shortly after takeoff due to technical problems killing over 170 passengers on board.
