Jackie Cox called out the RuPaul’s Drag Race fans who have been harassing and attacking her via DMs amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12 star Jackie Cox is clapping back at fans who are sending her hateful messages amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. While there had been a few other drag performers of Middle Eastern descent competing on Drag Race over the years, one can argue that Jackie Cox showcased that part of her identity more prominently than any other queen had done on the show before. For those who don’t know or remember, Jackie’s mother is Iranian.
Jackie Cox’s Middle Eastern identity was always celebrated on Drag Race season 12, but that didn’t stop certain fans – and guest judges – from raising questions about the complex dynamic between being gay and being Middle Eastern. Alas, Jackie always dealt with those matters with class, humor, and intelligence, making it clear that she’s very proud of her heritage. This week, the conflict between Israel and Hamas escalated to new heights, resulting in 10 days of military action and violent attacks.

Now, Jackie Cox took to social media to call out the RuPaul’s Drag Race fans who were sending her hateful messages. As seen in the tweets below, Jackie revealed that certain people have been sending her DMs with attacks and harassment. Jackie made it clear that she is willing to call out these people and confront them directly. Jackie then added, “You do NOT know me personally, you are NOT free to use my identity against me.” Thankfully, there have also been fans that contacted Jackie with respectful messages, even if they weren’t on the same side of this issue.
to those of you (even those who disagree) who have reached out to me with respect, thank you. 💖

Overall, it is upsetting that Jackie Cox is getting attacked for her identity and for forming her own opinion about what is happening in the world. Over time, Jackie has always been open to and respectful of different opinions, so it is shocking that certain Drag Race fans have been targeting her with harassment and attacks via social media. Hopefully, Jackie’s tweet will effectively highlight that she is once again trying to engage in civil and respectful conversations, even if her opinions are different than someone else’s.
This isn’t the first time that a contestant from RuPaul’s Drag Race has had to fight back fans and accuse them of harassment. Unfortunately, this probably won’t be the last time, either. However, it is important for these LGBTQIA+ artists to keep standing up for themselves and encourage the fans to be more respectful toward them.
