NBA Star LeBron James has been spotted wearing what look like Apple’s rumored Beats Studio Buds earbuds ahead of their expected release.
NBA star LeBron James was recently spotted rocking what appear to be Apple’s rumored new Beats Studio Buds earbuds ahead of their official release. While it’s unclear what exact Beats model the 36-year-old athlete was actually wearing, many believe they closely resemble the Beats Studio Buds’ previously leaked renders. Apple first unveiled the PowerBeats Pro back in 2019, a tad earlier than the AirPods Pro that came with more sophisticated audio features.
They were the first true-wireless entry that carried the popular Beats branding, sporting Apple’s blazing-fast H1 chip, long battery life, and integrated ear-hooks designed to keep them in place. However, they lack the active noise-canceling feature, spatial audio support, and portability of the AirPods Pro. Last week, leaked renders showcased what appears to be the Beats Studio Buds with a more compact-looking form factor and addressing some of what the past Beats entries have been missing.
As reported by to 9to5Mac, James posted some Instagram pictures of him wearing a pair of earbuds that resemble the unreleased Beats Studio Buds. Unlike the images from the leaks, which showed the Beats Studio Buds in a matte-black finish, the basketball legend was sporting a white version of the earbuds. This is said to be one of the various colorways available, with red also an expected option. The earbuds also apparently bore the Beats branding. The protruding oblong shape does of the earbuds strengthens the argument that they resemble the leaked unit’s exterior more than other similar-style earbuds like Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro.
What To Expect From The Upcoming Beats Studio Pro
The Beats Studio Pro earbuds are expected to have enough improvements to make them closer in terms of specs to the AirPods Pro than their over-ear counterparts. Apart from looking significantly less bulky than their predecessors, the next true-wireless Beats headphones are expected to come with a charging case, instant pairing, and active noise-canceling. Of course, there’s still no word on whether they will have longer battery life, support spatial audio, or keep the distinct sound signature Beats headsets are known for.
The Beats Studio Pro might sound like potential AirPods Pro killers so far, but the absence of the ear-hooks PowerBeats are known for would them lose some of their identity now that they’re in the sea of many identical-looking earbuds. There’s also the question of whether or not the Beats Studio Pro will remain a sporty pair of water-resistant earbuds designed for active users, or if they’ll be aimed towards more casual listeners instead. With Apple reportedly downsizing the AirPods, the Beats Studio Pro need to offer a lot more than a compact form factor to be differentiated from the pack.
