One of the two men who escaped from the Lorain Medina Community Based Correctional Facility (CBCF) late last month has turned himself in.
The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office says Kevin McKitrick turned himself into the Lorain County Jail on Wednesday afternoon. McKitrick’s decision to surrender came after two days of phone conversations with detectives from the sheriff’s office. Authorities had been been tracking possible locations of McKitrick for several days.
McKitrick was charged with Escape, a Felony of the 2nd degree and Vandalism, a felony of the 5th Degree. He is scheduled to appear in Elyria Municipal Court on Thursday.
The whereabouts of Justin Hamilton are unknown. McKitrick was unable to provide further information and denied any knowledge of his location.
Hamilton and McKitrick were able to escape from the CBCF on June 29 by breaking a window at around 8:30 p.m. and climbing out.
