Neighborhood Pets: Helping Cleveland pets get help they need

With the need being greater than ever, they had to expedite an expansion to meet the needs of clients.

CLEVELAND — “We’re busier now than ever before.”

Those are the words of Neighborhood Pets executive director Becca Britton, which has provided low-cost wellness services, free spay and neuter procedures, a pet food bank and more to those in need since 2016.

Britton stands by her beliefs that no pet should suffer no matter their owners’ circumstances. She says her entire goal is to keep our pets home with their families throughout the city of Cleveland.

“It’s been very difficult for our staff, it’s difficult for our clients, emotions are running high and it’s really been like that since the beginning of the pandemic,” Britton said.

With the need being greater than ever, they had to expedite an expansion to meet the needs of clients — an expansion that Darryl Brazil said he believes is necessary.

“It’s very important. I’ve even done volunteer work here for them to show my appreciation.”

Making a difference one pet at a time.

“Neighborhood Pets has been a breath of fresh air, it’s almost like an oasis of joy.”

Britton said she hopes that the expansion will also afford more Clevelanders the opportunity to take advantage of what neighborhood pets have to offer.

“Our entire goal here is to keep pets in their homes with their families, and we do that by providing resources and low-cost or free services to pet owners throughout the city of Cleveland and East Cleveland,” Britton said.
