BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Norman Lear accepted the Carol Burnett Award on Sunday on the Golden Globes for his storied profession in tv, saying he “couldn’t really feel extra blessed.”
The 98-year-old still-working tv legend, creator of “All within the Household,” “The Jeffersons” and “One Day at a Time, is the third winner of the award that honors “excellent contributions to tv on or off the display screen.”
Talking from what gave the impression to be his dwelling and sitting in a simple chair, Lear praised the girl for whom the award is called.

“I’m satisfied that laughter provides time to 1’s life, and no one has made me snigger tougher, no one I owe extra time to, than Carol Burnett,” Lear mentioned.
He went on to pay tribute to “a lifetime of companions, performers, associations and artistic skills for which I’m eternally grateful.”
“Norman Lear is among the many most prolific creators of this era,” mentioned HFPA President Ali Sar in an announcement. “His profession has spanned the Golden Age and the streaming period. His progressive method addressing controversial matters via humor prompted a cultural shift that allowed social and political points to be mirrored in tv. His work revolutionized the trade and the Hollywood Overseas Press Affiliation is honored to call him because the 2021 Carol Burnett Award recipient.”
