Police rescue woman trapped in submerged van in Alliance

A number of officers with the Alliance Police Division jumped into the icy waters of the Mahoning River on Sunday to save lots of a lady who was trapped in her submerged van.

Police say a 24-year-old lady had simply left work and was driving alongside the 600 block of River Avenue round 9:30 p.m. Sunday when she fell asleep on the wheel. Her van went off the highway, hit a guard rail and fell roughly 10-14 toes down into the river.
