Roughly 8,000 customers without power in Cuyahoga County amid scorching heat

CLEVELAND — With temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s on Tuesday, thousands of FirstEnergy customers in Cuyahoga County are waking up to find they do not have electricity.

Just under 8,000 people in the county are currently without power, with almost 7,000 of them in North Royalton. Another 1,000 are in the dark in nearby Broadview Heights, along with smaller numbers in Strongsville and Medina County.

At this moment, it is unknown what specifically caused the outages. FirstEnergy says all power should be restored no later than 9:30 a.m., although that time is subject to change.
