Aaron Sorkin’s new movie, The Trial of the Chicago 7, is coming to Netflix on Oct. 16 and tells the actual story of a gaggle of activists who had been charged by the federal authorities with conspiracy and intent to incite a riot after protesting the Vietnam Struggle outdoors of the 1968 Democratic Nationwide Conference, which was being held in Chicago.
SPOILER ALERT: Although the seven defendants — Abbie Hoffman, Tom Hayden, Jerry Rubin, David Dellinger, Rennie Davis, John Froines, and Lee Weiner — had been slapped with contempt of courtroom prices through the trial, which resulted in various jail sentences, their convictions had been reversed in 1972 following a profitable enchantment.
