Tyler Whitman is one of the newer faces on Million Dollar Listing New York. Besides his career in real estate, he’s overcome a lot of adversity.
Tyler Whitman is one of the newer faces on the Million Dollar Listing New York series. He joined the cast at the start of season 8 alongside Luis Ortiz, who returned after leaving the show two seasons prior. Even though Tyler was the least experienced of the cast, he was determined to make a name for himself among the real estate heavy hitters of New York City. Over time, hard work and tenacity seemed to have paid off since he was asked to return for season nine.
When Tyler Whitman was announced as the newest cast member of the Bravo series in 2019, the fans were excited to see a new face added to the mix. Prior to the addition of Tyler and the return of Luis, Steve Gold was the most current real estate agent to be a part of the series. However, Tyler wasn’t intimated at all by his Million Dollar Listing New York co-stars, and proved to them and the fans that he has what it takes to be a successful real estate agent.

35-year-old Tyler Whitman grew up in the South, but he’s never been specific about the exact state where he was born in. After he graduated from high school, Tyler attended the University of Alabama, according to his LinkedIn page, and later obtained several sales jobs in New York City. Tyler’s first job was as a licensed salesperson for Best Apartments Inc. – a company that helped people find affordable places in the city. Tyler then worked for the company for almost four years between 2007 and early 2011. He later found a position with Metropolitan Property Group, where he worked as a salesperson for a year and a half and was later promoted to managing director. In 2013, Tyler took another position at Triplement, where he is currently employed on MDLNY, and now has his own real estate team named The Whitman Team.
Shortly after moving to NYC, Tyler realized real estate was his passion and wanted to make a positive impact on helping people find their dream homes. When Tyler began his role a Triplement, he became a part of the founding team and even helped in developing their mission to improve the experience of buying, selling, and renting homes in the city (via BravoTV). Besides working hard to build his portfolio in real estate, Tyler has been through a few life challenges. In 2016, Tyler underwent gastric sleeve surgery to help jumpstart his weight loss. Thanks to the surgery and hitting the gym several times a week, Tyler lost a life-changing amount of weight. Tyler also revealed in April that he was officially one year sober. He didn’t go into detail about why he decided to get sober, he did receive well wishes from his friends and his MDLNY castmates.
Since Tyler joined MDLNY, which is a spin-off of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles, he has quickly become a favorite amongst the viewers. They love his passion for real estate, his hard-working attitude, and his bubbly personality. In just a few years, Tyler will be one of the top realtors in NYC, just like his fellow MDLNY castmates.
