US Coast Guard give CPR to woman at Pickle Bills Fairport

US Coast Guard officers provide CPR to woman who had appeared to have a heart attack near Fairport Harbor



The incident happened Saturday night.

Crew members with the United States Coast Guard assisted in saving a 52-year-old woman on Saturday at a restaurant in Grand River, Fairport Harbor. 

According to officials, the incident happened at the Pickle Bill’s Lobster House around 5:20 p.m. when a restaurant patron became unresponsive after what appeared to be a heart attack.

Members of the U.S. Coast Guard Station Fairport were at the restaurant while the incident happened and a patron approached the officers asking for help. The officers immediately jumped into action and began assisting in chest compressions and other life-saving measures.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Travis Fields, Seaman Apprentice Caroline Murdock, Petty Officer 2nd Class Taylor Reaser, Seaman Emma Spurlock, Petty Officer 3rd Madeline Watt, and Petty Officer 2nd Class James Woods were all present at the time and each played a role in helping the woman until EMS arrived on scene. 

The team provided assistance until local fire department and medical personnel arrived and relieved the Coast Guard crew member. 

Officials tell 3News that the woman was taken to University Hospitals TriPoint Medical Center. Her condition is unknown at this time.
