The Foreshadowing Quests in Fortnite Season 6 hint at what is to come in Season 7. To complete the first one, players must find a downed helicopter.
As Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 6 rapidly builds toward its conclusion, Epic Games has added a new questline for players that seems to hint at the grand finale and possible directions for Season 7. These quests, called Foreshadowing Quests, are cryptic and fairly vague, telling disjointed and brief parts of a story that will most likely be revealed in the coming weeks. Only two of these challenges have released for Fortnite Season 6 Week 11 so far: Repair Damaged Telescopes and Investigate a Downed Black Helicopter. Investigating the downed helicopter can be tricky if players don’t know where to look, as there aren’t any clues to point them in the right direction.

It is not enough to just find the downed black helicopter in Fortnite Season 6, however. To complete this quest, players will also need to solve a short puzzle and tune the chopper’s radio. The message they hear is a clue to what players may be able to expect at the end of Season 6 and start of Season 7. Like with any Fortnite quest, there is XP associated with completing this task successfully. Here’s how to investigate the downed black helicopter in the Foreshadowing questline of Fortnite Season 6.
How to Investigate the Downed Helicopter in Fortnite Season 6
To find the downed black helicopter in Fortnite Season 6, players will need to travel to the south side of the map. The helicopter can be found dug into the earth to the east of Slurpy Swamp and north of Misty Meadows, on the north side of the lake. It will be tucked away near a small group of pine trees northeast of the Hydro 16 dam. The map above from Fortnite.gg shows the exact location.
Once players find the helicopter, they will need to approach it and interact with it to open a smaller menu. They will begin to hear a staticky radio broadcast. To tune the radio, they can use the + (plus) and – (minus) buttons. While the solution appears to vary by player, typically the correct solution involves using the plus button a few times in a row, and ending with one use of the minus button. Players should try to hit the plus button once, then the minus button once. If that doesn’t work, they should hit the plus twice, then the minus once. They should keep trying this pattern, adding one more click to the plus button, until the radio tunes successfully.
Once tuned, players should hear and see the full message from the radio, now mostly free of static. It says, “India Oscar field decon truck inbound, OPSEC level 3 is in effect, repeat, OPSEC 3 is now a GO.” India Oscar and OPSEC level 3 are highlighted. It is likely India Oscar has something to do with the IO or Imagined Order to which Agent Jones belonged. Fans are more split about the meaning of OPSEC or what IO is trying to decontaminate on the island.
Once players successfully tune the downed helicopter radio in Fortnite, they will receive 24,000 XP toward their Season 6 Battle Pass. Players can move on to the next open Foreshadowing Quest and repair five of the seven damaged telescopes around the perimeter of the Fortnite island.
