As irritating as it’s, the overall consensus is that Sokka died of outdated age and pure causes between age 70 and 85. We first even find out about Sokka’s destiny within the sequence sequel, The Legend of Korra (which you’ll be able to watch on Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Google Play), when Katara says that he is handed away. It does not appear to be there was any “foul play” from the Pink Lotus, as this almost definitely would have been referenced.
